Pranayama

Pranayama is an ancient practice from yoga which involves controlled breathing patterns and breath holding exercises.
Unlike freediving where the focus is on making the breath hold longer, in pranayama we also work on lengthening the inhalation and the exhalation. This makes it not just beneficial for the respiratory but also act as a preparation for mental practices like concentration and meditation.
The great freediver Jacques Mayol was known to be a practitioner of pranayama and was the one who brought it into the world of freediving. Nowadays pranayama has become an important part of any serious freediver’s training.
The way I teach pranayama is more like a workshop than like a regular class you would find in most yoga schools and studios. The intent is to make you understand the how, what, when and why so that you can keep practicing on your own later.
The teachings are deeply rooted in the classical and ancient sacred texts of Yoga combined with my modern and scientific based understanding I got from freediving.
